Prime-Line E 2281 Passage Door Latch, Steel, Brass Finish (Single Pack)

These passage door latches are constructed of steel and come in a brass plated finish. The latch is designed for indoor use only and functions with the use of a spring-loaded square drive spindle at a maximum width and height of 9/32 inch. It features a 2-3/8 inch backset and is used with antique and vintage door hardware. The latch includes a latch strike and fasteners, but it does NOT include the door knobs, square spindle, and rosettes, which must be purchased separately.

The square drive on this latch has a 9/32 inch opening and a 1/4 inch opening, and the maximum square spindle size that the latch will accommodate is 9/32 inch. This item cannot be used on pre-bored doors that have large, newer style door knob holes without first prepping them to receive this hardware.

For installation, it is important to note that the fasteners of the rosettes (purchased separately) require a solid surface to mount to. The large 2-1/8 inch (approximate size) holes must first be filled with a hardening filler, such as Fix-It-All® or Bondo Body Filler®, to allow the rosette fasteners to be properly installed. Care must be used to avoid damaging any prefinished door surfaces during this process.

Additionally, it is recommended to apply a small amount of Loctite ThreadLocker 271® to the set screw threads in the event they become loose.

This latch bolt comes in a brass plated finish and features a square corner faceplate. It accepts a 9/32 inch square spindle and is used on old-style passage door locksets. The door latch is designed for indoor use with old-style passage lock sets and has a 2-3/8 inch backset, accepting a maximum 9/32 inch square spindle.

The construction of the latch includes steel and diecast components, and the mounting hardware is included.
